Coca-Cola has
released the results of an online study of Canadian happiness. Although what makes Canadians happy varies
from coast to coast, as well as between generations, and gender, the
commonalities are clear. Canadians are
inspired by simple pleasures: spending time with family and friends, enjoying
the country's natural wonders and participating in charitable acts.
Happiness is doing for
others
Whether by giving time or money, the Coca-Cola Happiness Monitor reports that nearly half of Canadians
feel happy when they support charitable causes, with 14 per cent saying it
makes them extremely happy. Other key
findings include:
- Almost six in ten Canadians currently volunteer
with charities or give their time/money to show their support
- Canada's top causes included helping
disadvantaged children, animal protection and the environment
- Volunteering occurs most often amongst
first-generation Canadians, females and citizens who are older than 25.
More than 5,000 Canadian residents, 16 years or older,
completed the Coca-Cola online survey in January of this year.
