From planned giving, to diversity issues, to stewardship and of course social media, experts are giving their time and expertise freely in celebration of GivingTuesday, December 3. Giving Tuesday is a global movement to harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Through the use of the hashtag #GivingTuesdayCA, the campaign will harness the power of social media to create a national moment dedicated to giving around the holiday season. On the same day that the campaign will ask Canadians and Americans to give and volunteer, Clare McDowall of Socially Good decided to demonstrate the power of social media for social good by bringing together some of the very best minds in fundraising across North America on Twitter to answer your questions.
Who will be there?
The chat is hosted by Socially Good with a little help from friends Leah Eustace of Good Works, Beth Ann Locke of the Aga Khan Foundation, and social media and fundraising maven Kimberley Mackenzie.
Experts include Gail Perry, who will be talking about major gifts; Krishan Mehta and Mazarine Treyz, who will discuss all things diversity, from staffing to your donor base; Amy Sept Canty, Clare McDowall and Vanessa Chase, who will cover various aspects of nonprofit communications; and John Lepp, who will talk about integrated campaigns.

How can you participate?
Participating in a tweet chat is simple. All you need is a Twitter account and a hashtag. If you don't have a Twitter account, you can easily create one at Twitter.com, It's completely free and you’ll make lots of new friends by being part of this event.
On Dec 3, head to http://tweetchat.com/room/SociallyGoodGT. We’ll be there from 11am to 7pm EST. If you prefer to follow along on Twitter or Hootsuite, or any other platform you use to access Twitter, simply plug in #SociallyGoodGT and join the conversation.
Twitter chat etiquette is to answer Q1 by typng A1 before your comment, Q2 and A2 etc. Each expert will start by discussing a few set questions be posted online in advance. From there over the course of an hour, you’ll have a chance to ask questions and share frustrations, ideas and inspiration with your nonprofit peers. It’s a lively, engaging, and often surprising thing to be part of.
